Birlinn and Polygon – the Best of the Fest
17 August 10
Tucked cheek by historic jowl with St Giles Cathedral in Parliament Square – just off the Royal Mile and slap-bang in the middle of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – is the beautiful Signet Library, home to the Society of Writers to Her Majesty's Signet and until the 3rd September, also home to a fantastic bookshop.

In conjunction with Birlinn, the Signet Library Bookshop is showcasing the best in Scottish writing, poetry and gift books, seven days a week during the festival from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Sidestep the crowds for a while and take advantage of fantastic special offers on a wonderful range of books.
It’s the world’s biggest, brightest and best, and both Polygon and Birlinn authors are at the Edinburgh International Book Festival for your viewing and listening pleasure. Many of the events are already sold out, but it’s always worth checking with the EIBF for returned tickets. Alexander McCall Smith makes several appearances to bring fans up to date with the goings on at 44 Scotland Street and Corduroy Mansions, and if crime fiction is more your thing Gillian Galbraith and Shirley McKay will be talking about two very different crime fighters!

History buffs are well served this year with Donald S. Murray will be going all the way to St Kilda and back, Roderick Graham going behind the façade of Robert Adam and Alistair Moffat uncovering the forgotten Kings and kingdoms of the Scots. And if none of the above appeals, join Jane McKie for an evening of poetry or the authors of Sea Dog Bamse to find out how to turn a great book into a bestseller! Phew …
