Naomi Mitchison had a long and eventful life spanning most of the twentieth century. As a writer she was amazingly prolific, with published work in every field of literature from poetry and historical fiction to politics and history. She also found time for, among other things, dedicated political involvement, running a farm in Argyllshire, raising a large family and being the mentor and confidante of a small African nation.
The autobiography of the first twenty years of this very remarkable life was written as two books, covering the period from 1897 to 1918. They are here re-published in a single volume.
