Rhona has had a long and varied life, always being drawn back to her ancestral homeland, Skye. Despite being registered blind in 1986 and a lack of formal education her Polish husband Kazimir always encouraged her creativity; after his death Rhona settled in Skye and began to make her living by writing and painting.
Unlike the author’s first collection, Consider an Island, the present work is composed of traditional stories interweaved with the main autobiographical narrative. The inspiration for this collection is a living tree on the waterfront of Broadford Bay at the foot of Beinn na Caillich in South Skye, a native ash tree that is a spiritual landmark in Rhona’s daily walks.
