 Margaret Aitken
Margaret Aitken lived on Stroma in the Pentland Firth and Buchan Ness off the Aberdeenshire coast between 1954 and 1966 as a lighthouse keeper’s wife. Family life was unconventional, with just a handful of neighbours, and basic everyday tasks such as shopping, cooking and keeping stores, all acquired a new dimension. Twelve Light Years is Margaret’s moving and poignant elergy of a dying way of life. |
