Ken Butler and Ken Crossan

Originally from Lancashire, Ken Butler moved to Caithness in 1957 aged eighteen. He became interested in wild plants as a young boy and has observed the flora of North Highland for the past 40 years including 15 years as the County Recorder for the east half of Sutherland and then 15 years as the County Recorder for Caithness. Ken is a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London which keeps Linnaeus’ original collection of plants and animals upon which Latin names are based. Ken lives in Thurso and is available for interview. Ken Crossan moved to Caithness some years ago from Paisley. His passion for natural history led him to take up photography almost 20 years ago and he has contributed the species images for both the Caithness and the Sutherland Biodiversity collections. Ken has won many national and international natural history photography awards and has featured in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Nature’s Best.
