James Buchan

James Buchan is a novelist and critic. His books have won major literary prizes in Britain, including the Whitbread First Novel Award, the Guardian Fiction Prize and the Duff Cooper Award, and have been translated into eleven foreign languages. He is the son of William Buchan, 3rd Baron Tweedsmuir and grandson of John Buchan, the Scottish novelist and diplomat. James was educated at Eton and Magdalen College, Oxford, and began his career as a Financial Times correspondent, writing from the Middle East, Germany, and the United States.
