Colin MacDonald

The son of generations of crofters, Colin MacDonald worked the land and then went to college. He became a Senior Land Officer and a Gaelic-speaking member of the Scottish land court. In Echoes of the Glen he gathered together reminiscences of the Strathpeffer crofter’s way of life in the closing decades of the nineteenth century; while Highland Journey is largely an account of the author’s efforts to improve the methods of cultivation in the Hebrides and the facing coasts.
