Jake Wallis Simons

Jake Wallis Simons is a novelist, journalist and broadcaster. His acclaimed first novel, The Exiled Times of a Tibetan Jew, was named by the Independent on Sunday as a Book of the Year. His second novel, The English German Girl — about the Kindertransport — was published by Polygon in April 2011, and was one of eight winners of the Fiction Uncovered competition. It won praise from Monica Ali, Sir Martin Gilbert, Jonathan Freedland and others, and was selected by Waterstones as a “next big thing” title. Jake also writes thrillers, under the name “Jake Simons.” His first, The Pure – about a renegade Mossad operative in London and the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran – will be published in March 2012.

As a journalist, Jake writes regular features for the Times, the Guardian, the Independent, the Telegraph, La Repubblica and other publications. He also writes and presents for BBC Radio 4, and is a regular contributor to From Our Own Correspondent.

Writing as Jake Simons he is also the author of The Pure, a blistering thriller about The Mossad.

Born in London in 1978, he read English at St Peter’s College, Oxford, and went on to receive a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. Jake is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts and lives with his family in Winchester.
