Alan Bissett

Alan Bissett was born and raised in Falkirk and now lives in Glasgow. He is the author of the novels Boyracers (Polygon, 2001), The Incredible Adam Spark (Headline, 2005), Death of a Ladies’ Man (Hachette, July 2009) and forthcoming Pack Men, the sequel to Boyracers (Hachette, Sept 2011). Alan also edited a collection of Scottish Gothic fiction called Damage Land (Polygon, 2001).

Alan studied at Stirling University, gaining a first-class degree in English Literature and Education, before going on to teach English. He returned to Stirling to study for a Masters Degree in English Literature, subsequently lecturing on Creative Writing at the Universities of Leeds and Glasgow before becoming a fulltime writer, novelist, playwright and performer.  His debut novel, Boyracers, and his own ‘one woman show’ The Moira Monologues are currently being adapted for film.
